Tim Johnson founded Point Topic, the specialist source for broadband market intelligence, in 1998.  As Chief Analyst he now leads the company’s research and analysis on all aspects of broadband markets, including business and consumer applications, the statistics and geography of user take-up and broadband statistics and forecasts.
He started his career as a science journalist, becoming Technology Correspondent of the London Sunday Times.  Later he worked for Logica and led one of the largest surveys of European data communications ever carried out, as chief consultant to the Eurodata Study of 1978-1980.  He went on to found Ovum, which became the largest Europe-based advisor on telecoms and IT service markets.
Tim now leads Point Topic's BroadBand User Service which combines a range of research programmes to provide a continuously updated picture of the geography of broadband in the UK.  Enabling the roll-out of next-generation access is currently a key issue here.  Analysis by Point Topic has made a major contribution to thinking by government and major players on how a rapid roll-out can best be achieved.
He continues to work with Point Topic's global research services on broadband operators and value-added applications.
